Room data sheets (or RDS) are used to record the details and needs for each space of a project. They are typically created by the client during the briefing (also called architectural programming in the US) phase of the design process however, they could also be updated during the design process to reflect the changing requirements or to give an improved and more precise picture for those responsible for the project’s delivery.
The Room Data Sheets SmartTool allows you to create rooms (or space) sheets of data using a Revit project. It is a quick and precise tool that can be used to create sheets, elevations and schedule views. The tool can produce 3D plans elevations, schedules, and views of rooms or spaces.
By default, the tool will use the Room Numbering template as well as the Sheet Format that are set by the Revit project However, a different sheet name and style can be chosen from the Tool Options tab. Click “Load Configuration …” on the toolbar to replace the current settings with previously saved configurations. This helps reduce the amount of manual rework required for different room types and sizes.
The tab ‘Naming’ allows the user to choose if the chosen room/space is included in the Sheet Name text box which appears on the left side of the screen. ‘View Name:’ specifies the text that appears in the title bar of each view, while ‘View Increment:’ specifies the number increments between each view when it is placed on the sheet. The option ‘Spacing’ allows you to control the space between each view. The option to exclude titles from estimating view Sizes for Sheets’ option will ensure that titles are not included in the calculation of the number of views on the sheet.
